NBCL (Novel Biomarkers Catalyst Lab) was founded in 2012 and is located at their offices and laboratories at Kerkenbos in Nijmegen the Netherlands. NBCL has an experienced immunoassay development team and works on the development of new immunoassays on the NBCL platform.
NBCL has an assay development laboratory and can perform small scale immunoassay production. NBCL is dedicated to the development and commercialisation of immunoassays that are or become important diagnostic tools in clinical management.

Job description.
Our client is looking for ambitious, driven, relationship focused and experienced Applications Specialist familiar with laboratory testing and with additional experience in interacting with clinicians (surgeons), that want to work in a fast-paced environment. Germany, and by extension the entire DACH region, is one of the main target markets and as such, NBCL is now expanding its team in Germany/DACH.
Nature and Scope of Work:
The Application Specialist, reporting to the Commercial Director, will be integral in transforming products of the future, and will participate in a team driven environment with a pioneering spirit. Working closely with the sales team, and occasionally distributors, this position is responsible for providing pre-sale support, product demonstrations and product trainings and team selling activities for NBCL products. This person will cultivate positive customer relationships and be a high-level customer interface for NBCL products as well as a technical expert to contribute to territory development, growth, relationship building and revenue goals selling instruments and reagents.
This is a mobile role, based in Germany – preferably center-south regions Hessen/ Baden-Württemberg/ Thüringen/ Bayern – primarily covering the DACH market, with occasional travel to other European sites. The incumbent will be visiting hospitals within the geographic region. In addition, they will be attending various local and regional trade shows or visiting the Head Quarter in Nijmegen, Netherlands. The candidate must be willing and capable to travel throughout DACH and occasionally other European destinations, Monday through Friday as required sometimes with short notice including occasional weekend travel to be on site Monday morning. Expected travel load up to 80%.
To facilitate this mobility, incumbents will be provided with suitable tools (laptop, printer, cellular phone, car allowance) and expense reimbursement according to company policy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily:
- Provide expert technical, demo service and product leadership during sales process by demonstrating superior product and application support for NBCL products.
- Demo and trainings will happen in and during surgery activities at relevant hospital OR in collaboration with the lead surgeon and technical OR staff.
- Provide support for customer implementation processes by providing product and applications information, answering inquiries, giving presentation and assist customer with meeting their regulatory and validation requirements.
- Develop, coordinate and deliver product training to customers and distributors on NBCL products and applications.
- Improve customer satisfaction and retention through trouble shooting and continuing education on optimization of clinical application processes.
- Maintain good communication with customers and gather information on the customers’ needs and relay that information to the sales and product teams to identify present and future customer needs and to enhance customer relations, where applicable.
- Support trade shows and professional conferences by performing product demonstration and seminars.
- Use market and product knowledge to assist sales team in developing sales, marketing and customer account sales strategies, support marketing with product launches.
- Provide competitive product insight and provide regular product feedback/improvements to internal stakeholders – product teams.
- Work with customers or other experts to generate appropriate field data and application notes or publications which highlight product benefits and helps differentiate NBCL products
- Develop and provide reports summarizing activities and workloads in a timely fashion and following company policy; Provide information to direct management/peers and other functional groups including deviations, problems, account information, and strategic information.
- Contribute to the development of structured teaching manuals and maintenance of technical support literature that ensure customers can effectively use system applications and functionality.
- Accomplish results individually and in collaboration in teams and work groups; Proactively address and support sales objectives and organizational directives to define problems and devise solutions, assist with work-flow analysis and process redesign.
Candidate profile.
Qualifications and Requirements
- 3+ years' experience with general medical and/or laboratory techniques, data analysis and data interpretation
- Experience in Point of Care, immunology or biochemistry diagnostics space is a plus and in particular hands-on troubleshooting or crisis management in a clinical setting is instrumental
- A demonstrated understanding of how hospitals operate with the ability to apply that to uncover and address their unmet needs
- Experience in interacting with key stakeholders, from the lab, point of care department and clinicians/surgeons
- Having experience with setting up product evaluations in a clinical laboratory
- Understand how Point of Care diagnostics is done today
- Excellent communication and presentation skills (public speaking and presentation experience desired) in German and English. Other EU languages are a plus.
Education:
- BS/MS degree, or equal by experience, in biological sciences or (bio)chemistry, with a commercial mindset.
- Clinical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist degree is a plus.
- Knowledge on Immunology and Biochemistry highly desirable.
