Scientific Collaborator.

The In Vitro Toxicology and Dermato-Cosmetology (IVTD) group at the Health Campus of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) in Jette is a dynamic research team that focusses on non-animal methods for human safety assessment of chemical substances. IVTD is seeking for an experienced and motivated toxicologist (m/f) with applicable knowledge in regulatory human health risk assessment.

Job omschrijving.

Your tasks and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Perform human health risk assessments of chemical substances (mainly cosmetic ingredients) and/or different types of consumer products. This includes the preparation of safety dossiers and/or scientific reports based on regulatory toxicological studies and/or self-researched data from open literature or databases to fill data gaps. Your evaluations/scientific reports will be peer reviewed by senior toxicologists.
  • Be the client contact for your projects and key expertise.
  • Assist in other projects where input of a human health risk assessor is needed (e.g. interdisciplinary research projects, policy studies for governmental institutions).
     

Profiel van de kandidaat.

  • Master degree or PhD in toxicology, pharmaceutical sciences, veterinary sciences, (bio)medical sciences, bioengineering sciences, (bio)chemistry or other relevant education.
  • At least 3 years of experience practicing regulatory toxicology/risk assessment. Experience in one or more of the following fields is important: cosmetics, medical devices, industrial chemicals, biocides,…Understanding of EU and global regulatory requirements for the different products.
  • Knowledge of new approach methodologies (NAMs, e.g. QSAR modelling, in vitro methodologies) for next generation risk assessment is an asset.
  • Demonstrated independent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and oral skills in English.
  • Attention to detail and quality.
  • Ability to manage different projects and deliver on time.
  • Enthusiastic, dynamic, flexible, accurate and able to work independently and in a team.
